Short Tour
Description
Day 1:
Upon
arrival at the airport we will be welcomed by your guide. He will bring us to
your comfortable, centrally located hotel. In
the afternoon we will have a drive to Zaisan Memorial, build by the Russians to
commemorate unknown soldiers from different wars. Located on a Southern hill of
Ulaanbaatar, we will be able to enjoy an excellent view of the capital and the
surrounding countryside. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 2:
Drive Eastwards, pass Baganuur town.
Family Stay or camping.
Day 3:
Drive further North Eastwards to reach
the first fishing spot in the afternoon. We will fish all effluents of
the Onon River.
The
Onon River is a major watershed for Asia. The river begins on the eastern
slope of the Khentii Mountains just south of Russian Siberia and within
the immense Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area (National Park), which is
totally devoid of people. The river eventually joins the Herlen and Amur Rivers
before entering the Pacific Ocean at the Sea of Okhotsk.
Further down river we will reach the first inhabited
areas. The majority of the locals are "Buryats", a Mongolian ethnic
minority, whose ancestors migrated over the border from Siberia early 1900s.
Most families herd livestock. The primary form of transportation is still a
horse.
Family Stay or camping.
Day 4 - 6:
Whole day fishing the Barkh River. Ger
Camp Stay.
Day 7:
Drive more North Eastwards. Fishing end
of the afternoon.
Day 8 - 10:
Whole day fishing the Balj River. Family
Stay or camping.
Day 11:
We will drive Soutwards to the Kherlen River.
Day 12:
Fishing the Kherlen River.
Day 13:
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar

Day
at leisure in the Mongolian capital
